C – Simple strategies for increasing commercial revenues: targeting the airport consumer through 1to1® CRM

There is enormous revenue potential in targeted 1to1® marketing and huge benefits to be reaped. With concrete case studies of CRM business models, data collection techniques, the costs and the return on investment as well as how all areas of airport commercial revenues can be enhanced, delegates learned how consumers can be enticed to buy or spend more in the airport environment.

D – TFWA Consumer research – Japanese outbound travellers and future research projects

TFWA’s Japanese research partner, JTM, revealed the final results of the outbound traveller research they have been conducting to monitor the latest passenger trends in this dynamic market for premium and luxury retail.

This was followed by an insight into future research projects TFWA will be carrying out on behalf of its members.

E – Airport revenue strategies… balancing aeronautical and commercial revenues

How can airports maximise turnover, not only through aeronautical and non-aeronautical revenue streams but also by forward planning and anticipating market trends? Particular focus was made during this workshop on the diverse range of commercial revenue streams such as retail, catering and advertising but also parking, banking and leisure services as well as sourcing new revenue streams such as real estate and property management.

F – Terminal design – The role of the architect. Who should plan commercial space?

Different perspectives and constraints have to be considered by airports when designing or redesigning an airport structure. Managing space for security and other functional constraints while maximising the commercial returns for the airport and the role of the architect are among the questions which were debated by the panel of experts.

G – Consumer insight: successful cross-culture branding in Asia

The cultural values that form customers’ expectations and perceptions about their shopping experiences can often influence their buying decisions. These can vary considerably from one country to the next in Asia.

In this session Asian branding experts Martin Roll and Bob Grove studied how brands and retailers can establish a relationship with consumers in Asia and how international brands need to adapt their marketing strategies and brand identities depending on the market.

H – The evolution of the Low Cost Carrier market in Asia Pacific

Convergence, open skies, the emergence of long-haul low cost… this session dealt with the evolutions of this hugely dynamic sector: how the industry has evolved in the last few years, how it will grow and develop further in the near future and what impact these trends will have on travel retail and other airport commercial activities.
