The European Travel Retail Business - Business as usual?
“How have the security regulations affected the industry and what lessons have been learned?” The view from the EU Commission, Airports, Retailers, and Suppliers.
The travel retail trade in Europe has changed dramatically since the UK authorities foiled the alleged terrorist plot on 10 August last year and the resultant imposition on 6 November of new EU rules restricting the quantities of liquids that passengers can carry on board of aircraft.
The Forum, held at the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel on 27 & 28 March, provided the first opportunity for ETRC, TFWA and all other industry members concerned to discuss and debate the impact of these new regulations with a senior European Commission official and leading industry executives at the forefront of the industry’s response to the new security regime. The Forum also provided the opportunity to look forward at what the European travel retail business could look like by 2020.
