Helen Keller International

This five-year project aims to combat malnutrition and blindness among the local communities of Nioro and Diéma in Mali. The project benefits from the support of a sizeable international NGO, which guarantees both financial transparency and on-the-ground support from field workers in the country.
The Project

Within the two communities, 51% of child deaths are caused by malnutrition. The Helen Keller Foundation aims to prevent and end this problem through a programme of agriculture, health and sanitation education, empowering the local communities to change their own lives for the better. The project will focus on pregnant women and younger mothers with children under five years’ old, and will aim to reinforce the communities’ nutritional self-sustainability.
