La Fondation Motrice is a Paris-based organisation which funds research on Cerebral Palsy, one of the most frequent motor impairment disorders among children. In France alone, Cerebral Palsy affects one in 450 children and 12,000 new cases are identified every year in Europe. Through its work, it aims to fulfil the hopes of people with the illness and their family.

Marie-Francelyne Delyon, former legal and economic attaché to the French National Office for Cereals and Cerebral Palsy sufferer explains the benefits of the foundation’s research and other activities. She says: “La Fondation Montrice’s efforts highlight the great difficulty in addressing the needs of those affected by Cerebral Palsy and impaired motor conditions. One of the most important results of its work is to reduce the fragmentation of research in this field and channel efforts towards a common goal. This will hopefully result in improved efficiency in research and improved awareness of cerebral palsy. It has already deepened my knowledge of many aspects of the disability that I was not aware of, having had little opportunity to mix with other people affected.”
