Toutes A L’École

Happy Chandara school, Kandal, Cambodia
Toutes A L’École is a non-profit organisation committed to developing education for young girls in Cambodia. Happy Chandara school is its project in Prek Thmey in Kandal Province, near Phnom Penh, with around 530 pupils from primary school through to school leaving age. TFWA Care started supporting the project in 2011.
Project Report

From September 2010 to July 2011 TFWA Care sponsored Class 1D, a class of 29 6-7 year-old girls at Happy Chandara school. Educating girls is a particularly important need in Cambodia because mothers are responsible for their children’s education, and so educating future mothers is critical to making a lasting impact on education and life prospects for the many impoverished people in the country.
TFWA Care funds contributed to the schooling of the pupils, including school facilities and educational equipment, uniforms, food and medical supplies, and to the salaries of the 76 local staff.

Students in the class funded by TFWA Care include Chea Sok Heang, the youngest of a family of seven. She loves learning, especially literature, and would like to become a teacher. Another, Savath Srey Leap, wants to be a doctor to help cure local diseases. She likes English classes and wants to speak French.
Ana Laura was the English teacher for 1D class last year. In order to continue with her pupils, she has decided to follow them as teacher for 2D this year. She says: “Happy Chandara is able to dispense a high level of education for all these girls thanks to the resources, in particular financial and material support, from the Toutes A L’École’s donors.”
Toutes A L’École is committed to financing all current students through their entire education and supporting them until they find their first jobs.
