Visitors find optimistic signs around the show

Exhibition, Analysis
Many visitors to TFWA Asia Pacific & GATE ONE2ONE were encouraged by positive messages from business partners at the exhibition, and by the level of development activity across the region.
A return to pre-crisis visitor numbers contributed positively to an energising exhibition at TFWA Asia Pacific & GATE ONE2ONE; total visitor numbers for the week were up by 13% on last year, with visiting companies up 12%. More importantly, many visitors came with messages of bold new business developments, and many of them found encouraging signs of optimism at the exhibition.

Several visitors were delighted to see so many new brands exhibiting – a total of 42 new and returning exhibitors were at the event this year – and saw the continued interest in Asia Pacific from brands as a strong sign of faith in the market. Just as consistently developing the product offer is crucial to the industry, so too is it important for the exhibition to welcome new brands, and many visitors were impressed with the many innovative products they saw at the exhibition this year.

Jacqueline See, deputy general manager, ground & inflight services department, Hong Kong Airlines
"It’s been very busy for us. In fact, we had planned to come here for just two days but we will be coming back on Thursday because our meetings have overflowed.”
Keiko Kobayashi, manager, duty free, New Chitose Airport
"I’m very impressed with all of the attractive displays in the exhibition hall. It’s great that suppliers come from all over the world as it gives us a chance to see the suppliers and products that we don’t normally get to see.”
Ken Tse, managing director, Nuance-Watson Singapore
"At TFWA, we have face-to-face discussions to better understand each other’s changing situation and to plan way ahead…[We] also deliberately put away a lot of the time to seek out new products.”
René Riedi, COO Region Eurasia, Dufry
"We have two objectives. First, to use this as a platform to meet our existing partners to follow up on our business activities and projections. Second, to look for new exciting brands and concepts that could be featured into our operations.”
