Han ShengjianDirector
International Economic Development Bureau (IEDB)

Han Shengjian is the Director for the International Economic Development Bureau (IEDB) responsible for Hainan province’s corporate investment and overall promotion as a prime destination for businesses and tourism in China and beyond. With a long-standing career in trade and investment resulting in major expositions nationwide as an engine of economic growth, Shengjian has held numerous leadership roles within China’s Ministry of Commerce and Foreign Trade Development Bureau.

From 2016 to 2018, Shengjian served as the Deputy Mayor of Mianyang Municipal People's Government tasked to further promote the city’s investment in various businesses such as its service industry and expo. Prior to this, he held numerous positions in China Namkwong Import and Export Company, the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy in Sri Lanka, and the Chamber of Commerce for import and export of machinery and electronic products.

Shengjian’s work in the promotion of Chinese businesses within the nation and abroad has received numerous recognitions by the Ministry of Commerce. He has been awarded and listed in the Ministry’s prestigious "Ten Outstanding Young Persons of China", the Individual Award for Outstanding Contributions to Important Work and Major Activities, the Collective Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Evacuation of Overseas Chinese from Libya.

Shengjian is from the Fujian province. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Shanghai University (1994) and Master’s Degree from Peking University’s National School of Development (2010). He is currently studying for his doctorate in economics at Wuhan University.
