Fashion & accessories is arguably the most diverse product category in travel retail, one that brings variety and prestige to the range on offer. Despite the current pressure on sales worldwide, the category will have an important role to play in attracting customers once international travel recovers.

This report, the latest in the TFWA Insight series of short product category reports based on data from the Travel Retail Catalyst Study (TRaCS) from Horizon Consumer Science, looks at how travellers engage with the fashion & accessories category: from apparel to leathergoods, eyewear to footwear, scarves, belts and ties. It looks at the preferences and spending of a number of key travelling nationalities, comparing their on-airport and off-airport purchasing during their trip.

The TFWA Insight: Fashion & Accessories Report 2020 is available in PDF format and features data and insights on the following topics:

  • Share of fashion & accessories spend by sub-category
  • Share of spend by sales channel (airport duty free, off-airport duty free, domestic retail during trip)
  • Share of spend by nationality
  • Planned vs impulse purchases
  • Buyer profiles compared with global benchmarks

As always, the report is available free of charge to TFWA members; simply log in to download the PDF file.
