TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference
With the approach of TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference, duty free and travel retail’s largest region by sales continues to lead the way.

Marina bay sand
That looks unlikely to change soon, Asia’s growth comfortably outstripping everywhere else based on recent data from Generation Research. Over the first half of 2017, Asian sales to travellers rose 8.1% versus the same period in 2016. Europe, the next-best performer, grew turnover 3.0% by comparison. The state of the business in Asia Pacific matters for duty free and travel retail, so all eyes will turn towards Singapore in 2018 for TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference (6-10 May), the region’s annual industry summit. The good news is that exhibitor interest is robust. Among the companies already confirmed for the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) venue are 16 who will be making their debut or returning after a break. They include Cartier (jewellery & watches), Maison Boinaud (wines & spirits), The East India Company (confectionery & fine food) and Toscano Italian Cigars (tobacco). The Exhibition floor will be extended on Level 1 to accommodate the growing exhibitor numbers and this year will see more double-storey stands and larger hospitality suites at the request of participating brands.

networking
Networking remains a vital ingredient in the Singapore mix and the 2018 programme will feature a couple of changes. Sunday night’s Welcome Cocktail moves to a striking new venue, the Gardens by the Bay, with exclusive access to the world’s largest glass greenhouse. The show-stopping Singapore Swing Party on Wednesday shifts to the JW Marriott Hotel for an evening that promises to be out of this world. Enthusiastic golfers will be glad to hear the Sunday-morning tournament returns to Raffles Country Club with the help of Interparfums. Otherwise the Chill-Out Party on Tuesday evening takes to the Mandarin Oriental Hotel roof, and delegates can find their favourite early-evening rendezvous, the Asia Pacific Bar, on Level 4 of the MBS from Monday to Wednesday.
