With its global footprint, multi-channel distribution and broad product range, travel retail is a difficult market to measure. Yet accurate data is essential to brands targeting international travellers. For 20 years, TFWA has commissioned research on travel retail, aiming to provide its members with actionable insights about the travelling consumer and the commercial environment around them. The result is a substantial catalogue of studies and reports that are rich in data and available free of charge to members.

Recent research falls into two broad categories:

TFWA Research Monitor


TFWA Monitor examines the bigger picture for travel retail, looking at travel patterns (flight bookings, passenger flows and regional spotlights) along with domestic-retail and consumer trends affecting travellers’ shopping behaviours.


 

TFWA Research Insight


TFWA Insight focuses more closely on the travel retail market itself, for example, through the lens of product categories, traveller nationalities and distribution channels, emerging buying trends, dwell time, path to purchase amongst other topics.
