Featuring insight and analysis, brands to excite the region’s travellers, innovative ideas on passenger engagement and multiple networking opportunities, TFWA Asia Pacific Exhibition & Conference 2024 (12-16 May in Singapore) ticks all the boxes for DF&TR professionals.
With a strong social component to complement the Conference, workshops and Exhibition, the programme for this year’s Asia Pacific industry summit returns to its full format. In addition to Sunday evening’s Welcome Cocktail (19:30 at the nearby Flower Dome) and the TFWA Asia Pacific Lounge (Monday & Tuesday, 18:00-20:00 on MBS Level 4), delegates have a further chance to network at the Singapore Social Club from 19:30 on Wednesday at Southside, Sentosa. Another change for this year sees the Exhibition doors open at 14:30 on Monday, giving delegates an additional afternoon to view participating brands and discover new ways to engage travellers at innovation showcase TFWA i.lab Asia.
Long the engine room of the global economy, Asia Pacific now faces inflationary pressures and reduced Chinese momentum as the region grows. After opening addresses from the presidents of TFWA and APTRA and a welcome by Singapore's Minister of Trade and Industry, His Excellency Mr Alvin Tan, the Conference will survey the commercial landscape from three perspectives. Author and economist Keyu Jin, a professor at the London School of Economics, assesses Asia Pacific’s economic outlook. Business and marketing expert Nirmala Kumar looks at the rise of India. Finally, physicist Dr Michio Kaku examines emerging trends in tech innovation across the region. The morning will be moderated by TFWA Conference Director Michele Miranda alongside tech entrepreneur and co-founder of AirAsiaX Azran Osman-Rani.
Further industry-relevant insights follow later in the week at two workshops. China Watch on Tuesday (08:00-09:00, Begonia Room on MBS Level 3), with TFWA’s Chief China Representative Hannah Gao and a panel of DF&TR executives, will evaluate progress in airport and downtown duty free as well as in Hainan. Research takes centre stage on Wednesday (08:00-09:00, Begonia Room) for a workshop on Decoding Today’s Dwell Time, when the latest findings from TFWA’s Global Shopper Series of studies with Pi-Insight will be used to analyse traveller behaviour. Michele Miranda will moderate. TFWA is grateful to event host Changi Airport Group, supported by the City of Singapore and the Singapore Exhibition & Convention Bureau, as well as to Platinum sponsors Avolta and Mondelez International, and the companies supporting the networking programme.
