TFWA China Reborn

Robert Calzadilla, Executive Vice-President Strategy & Business Development, DFS Group

Why do you feel the Chinese market is important now?

An exciting future lies ahead for the duty free industry in China, thanks to the positive efforts of the government to enhance its offshore duty free shopping policy and encourage greater retail competition. Chinese customers are also central to the recovery of travel retail, and it is the responsibility of all sector stakeholders to support this market for the greater benefit of our industry.

How do you see the significance of the wider Asian market?

Undoubtedly, Asia is emerging from the health and economic crisis sooner than the rest of the world, adapting rapidly to market changes and finding new omnichannel ways to serve consumers digitally. These developments will guide other markets as they begin to recover, so there is an incredible opportunity for Asian innovation to shape global practice.

Why did you want to support TFWA China Reborn?
