Making sense of travel retail’s challenging present and likely future in the region driving industry revenues is the central theme of TFWA Asia Pacific Hainan Special Edition (21-24 June online). Tuesday’s conference breaks new ground in bringing together the leaders of no fewer than five major travel retailers. The heads of China Duty Free Group, Dufry, Lagardère Travel Retail, DFS Group and Gebr Heinemann will form a unique panel for the opening session entitled ‘Leading from the front’. Afterwards, the leaders of the Airports Council International, Duty Free World Council, Pacific Asia Travel Association and the International Air Transport Association’s Asia Pacific region will discuss the outlook for travel and tourism. The final conference session examines the psychology of purchasing in an increasingly online world with the help of a renowned specialist in consumer behaviour.
Four livestreamed workshops on Wednesday and Thursday will analyse shopper habits in Hainan, the digitalisation of retail, the future of luxury, and travel in a post-pandemic world. Alibaba, TripAdvisor, M1nd-set and Harding Retail are among the companies sharing their expertise. TFWA Asia Pacific Hainan Special Edition will also mark the launch of a new online platform, TFWA 365, a year-round resource supporting members and industry partners. As well as powering the conference and workshops, TFWA 365 will underpin the TFWA One2One e-meetings and daily e-networking sessions. The virtual mingling begins with a Welcome e-networking slot on Monday, followed by a themed hour-long session on each of the three following days. The four-day online event is free for buyers and landlords. Attractively priced visitor packages are available, and brands can upgrade for enhanced visibility and direct access to participating retailers and landlords via TFWA 365.
