Ghana Airports

Kwame Awuah is the Group Executive Commercial Services for Ghana Airports Company Limited. Kwame leads the overall operations and business development for GACL’s commercial department.  With an expertise in airports, transportation, infrastructure, engineering, and environmental assessment in both the private and public sectors, Kwame has spent his career working in the public and private sector.  

Previously, he served as Director of National Development Commission where he aided the President of Ghana’s Coordinated Programme of Economic and Social Development. He played lead roles in developing the Ghana Infrastructure Plan (GIP), the West Africa Growth Ring Corridor (WAGRIC) Master Plan and the National Spatial Development Framework (NSDF). 

In North America, Kwame played a key part of the team that prepared the City of Vaughan Transportation Master Plan, Sheppard West Subway Station Design and GO Rail Expansion Project in Ontario, Canada. In 2003, he was appointed as a member of the Planning Commissioners for the City of Laingsburg, Michigan, Tippecanoe County and the State of Indiana Long Range Transportation Plans.

Kwame earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from York University in Canada and the University of Miami in the US with concentrations in transportation and urban planning.  He is a certified member of the Ghana Institute of Planners, Canadian Institute of Planners.
