Michael Barrett

Executive Officer, Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association

Michael Barrett was appointed Executive Officer of the Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association in 2010, and manages the Association’s advocacy, training, research and communication activities. Michael entered the duty free industry in 2006 as Conference & Research Manager for TFWA. He was responsible for organizing the Association’s annual World Exhibition and Asia Pacific conferences in Cannes and Singapore, the annual MEADFA Conference and the inaugural TFWA China’s Century Conference, as well as coordinating TFWA’s research programme.  

Before joining the duty free industry Michael worked as a journalist at European news channel Euronews in Lyon, France before moving into the channel’s marketing department. He continued his career in online marketing in the internet advertising sector before joining an international NGO to head the fundraising and marketing department. 

Michael set up his own NGO, The Soulcial Trust, in 2015 to raise awareness for social causes with a focus on disability issues in developing countries.
