After the initial shock of the covid-19 pandemic, sales of perfumes & cosmetics in domestic markets across the world soared, and have remained consistently high. And as international travel resumes, the beauty category is set to play a pivotal role in the rebound of the duty free & travel retail market.
What are the key trends and learnings from domestic markets that will shape the travel retail business of tomorrow? How are beauty assortments changing to take account of new shopper preferences? How are social media and influencers changing the way beauty brands engage their customers? And what role will the growing niche perfume sector play in the development of the market?
Two Beauty in Travel Retail webinars, kindly sponsored by Gebr. Heinemann and hosted on the TFWA 365 online platform, will explore these questions and many more, highlighting the latest innovations and top industry trends to watch out for in 2022 and beyond. Held on June 14 and 15, the webinars will feature brands, retailers and leading experts from the beauty industry to provide precious insights into the direction in which the category is heading.
The session on day 1 of the event will focus on the latest customer data and trends in the domestic beauty market, and explore how they will play out in duty free & travel retail. Among the topics that will be discussed are changes to customer behaviour at a time of economic uncertainty; new trends in wellness and other emerging sectors; perspectives on price points and product assortments; and much more.
To kick off the session, the audience will hear from Larissa Jensen, Vice President, Beauty Industry Advisor of The NPD Group and Andy Lightfoot, CEO of SpaceNK on top beauty trends in the domestic market. Jan Binke, Head of Category Management, Gebr. Heinemann and Kaatje Noens Vice President Global Travel Retail, Puig will share their perspective on the evolving consumption trends in travel retail.
The beauty market is helping to define new possibilities in digital engagement, using tech to revolutionise communication, media and brand loyalty. This session will explore case studies in how brands and retailers are using digital today, the influence of social media, and how tech will help drive footfall and penetration in travel retail.
Speakers will include WITH Consultancy Travel Retail Consultant Xue Guo; L’Oréal Travel Retail Global Retail & Digital General Manager Sophie Neyertz-Ehrsam; Perfect Corp Executive Vice President & Chief Strategy Officer Louis Chen; and Szentia CEO Ignacio Longarte. Social media will continue to be an important strategy and the final part of the session will feature an in-depth conversation between Tribe Dynamics Co-founder Conor Begley and Anastasia Beverly Hills Senior Director of Influencer Relations and Social Media Alanah Dixon on how brands can grow and find ways to advance their approach.
The Beauty in Travel Retail webinars will be moderated by TFWA Conference Manager Michele Miranda and Oonagh Phillips, Editor in Chief of leading beauty journal BW Confidential.
