Sunil Tuli is a well-known and respected duty free and travel retail industry figure with a career spanning over 30 years in the channel. He is currently Managing Director, King Power Group (Hong Kong), responsible for the company’s duty free and travel retail business globally, with particular focus on retail operations in Hong Kong, China, Singapore and Macau.
Indian-born, Sunil began his career as a tea planter in Assam in 1977. In 1982 he moved into retail to work as Marketing Executive with Intercraft, a fashion chain in New Delhi, which led to the role of Manager for the company’s flagship store in the same city. By 1984 Sunil had joined India Tourism Development Corporation as General Manager, in charge of duty free stores at several Indian airports.
In 1990, he was appointed by the Swiss duty free group Weitnauer – now known as Dufry – to run their joint venture, Scotts Weitnauer, in Singapore. At the same time, he was also General Manager for Travellers Duty Free and Sincere Watch Duty Free. By 1995, Sunil was made Managing Director of Weitnauer Singapore, responsible for the expansion of the company in Asia, later becoming President of Asia Pacific and Middle East before leaving the company in 2002.
Sunil has been Managing Director of King Power since 2003. In addition, he is Chairman of Agatha SA (France) and sits on the Board of Directors for King Power Singapore, Aotea Holdings (New Zealand), King Power Travellers (Hong Kong), King Power Australia, Chateau Bernadotte and Hookedge UK. He is also Owner and Director of Yam Seng Pte Ltd Singapore.
He is a founding Board Member and former President of the Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA).
